Bio:

Deonna Cattledge is an award-winning vocalist, storyteller, and actor with an extensive resume and a drive to bring her art form to new audiences. In addition to her work as a performer, Cattledge is driven to share her art form with others through arts education and vocal coaching. She states, “Since I have discovered the gift of using your voice to create art, to express yourself, to build your confidence… I have used my voice in everything that I do. It is my goal to inspire the same for all that I teach.”

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Cattledge holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Oklahoma City University and a master’s degree in opera performance from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has performed in productions including Opera Grand Rapids, Key West Young Artist Program, Harrower Opera Summer Workshop, Oklahoma City University, and Opera Breve Vocal Intensive. In 2007, she was a soloist in the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, where she also studied the Italian language at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia (University for Foreigners of Perugia). Recently, Cattledge has been touring with National Public Radio’s (NPR) Peabody Award-winning The Moth and has been featured on The Moth Mainstage in Massachusetts, Dallas, New Your City, and Canada.

Cattledge is specifically interested in working with individuals with disabilities or other challenges, citing her own learning disability. Additionally, recovery from a vocal cyst led her to a three-year recovery process that allowed her to learn from and study with vocal surgeons, medical specialists, speech therapists, and singing therapists. Cattledge strives for her programming to be customizable, meeting students where they are.
