With more than 500 school districts across Oklahoma, how can students, parents, educators, and arts supporters learn about the availability of fine arts education in Oklahoma schools? The Oklahoma Arts Education Data Project provides an interactive dashboard that sheds light on where arts education is offered and where it is needed. Learn how to use this powerful tool to examine access to arts education by grade level, discipline, location, and more. The Oklahoma Arts Education Data Project has been made possible through a partnership with Oklahoma State Department of Education, Oklahomans for the Arts, the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, and the Oklahoma Arts Council.

How can we as supporters of arts and education find the information we need to take action? How can we empower parents, students, teachers, business leaders, and others to make informed decisions about building our communities and finding the right place for our home or business? This session will feature a panel discussion about one of the most robust tools available for viewing the status of arts education across our state—the Oklahoma Arts Education Data Project Dashboard. Panelists will share about the development of the dashboard and explain how it can be used as a powerful resource in advocating for arts education access. Moderated by Tonnie Dosser of Oklahomans for the Arts, panelists will representatives from the Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma State Department of Education, Oklahoma House of Representatives, and Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce. Oklahoma State Representative Toni Hasenbeck will share how people can use the dashboard to advocate for their schools. John Michael Montgomery, President and CEO of Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce, will offer guidance on how the dashboard can be helpful for the business community, including for realtors who are selling homes in specific school districts.
