The Artwork
Regina Murphy (1921-2018), a prolific award-winning artist over many decades, continued to work until not long before she passed away at age 97 on Christmas Day, 2018. Having mastered many techniques with enviable skill, she is perhaps best known for her varied landscapes in several mediums. In Special Places, she blended brilliant colors with representation of the landscape to entice the viewer.
The Artist
Born in Mississippi, Murphy spent her long and accomplished life in Oklahoma City. She studied at Oklahoma City University and Louisiana Tech University and in numerous programs around the world including Italy, France, Holland, Morocco, China, Bali, Guatemala, and Mexico. Murphy held signature membership in National Watercolor Oklahoma and Kansas Watercolor Society as well as being very active in local arts, in organizations such as Oklahoma Art Guild, Individual Artists of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, Paseo Arts Association, and Oklahoma Watercolor Association. Murphy’s work was exhibited hundreds of times over many decades and is found in many private, corporate, and museum collections around the country.
