Cultural Development
The
Council’s Cultural Development Office provides cultural development
and capacity building services to rural and underserved communities
and developing arts organizations. The Council provides technical assistance
that help communities and organizations:
- identify and develop their own arts and cultural resources
- identify traditional artists
- develop cultural heritage tourism in cooperation with the Oklahoma Division of Travel and Tourism
- form regional cultural networks
In addition, the Council provides consultation to developing arts organizations in the areas of administrative capacity, strategic planning, board development and program design and facilitates development of regional arts workshops, forums and conferences.

- Renewal Retreats offered to Arts Organizations
We all need to renew, revision and revitalize in order to maintain long-term health and well being. Non profit arts organizations are no different. Oklahoma Arts Council’s renewal retreats provide on-site consultation specifically tailored to address the organizational needs of small, mid-sized and emerging arts organizations including organizations in rural communities. - Are You an Artist living in rural Oklahoma?
The Oklahoma Arts Council is conducting an Oklahoma Artist Survey that will identify visual, performing and literary artists in rural Oklahoma. This project will establish a database of artists to serve as regional cultural resources to communities that are developing cultural festivals, community opportunities for arts learning and cultural heritage tourism.
