Project ALC: Tips on how to “Make it Work!”

January 15, 2008

From Molly O’Connor, the Arts Learning in Communities Director

Greetings, I hope 2008 is off to a great start for you!  My new year’s resolution is to make the Arts Learning in Communities (ALC) webpage into a better resource for people who are providing community-based arts learning throughout our Oklahoma communities.

In order to make the ALC webpage more helpful, I have added this new feature: Project ALC: Tips on how to “Make it Work!”  I will be regularly using this feature to post articles that I hope will help you make your ALC programs prosper.  After a little over a year as the ALC Director for the Oklahoma Arts Council, I have become aware of some common issues and questions in regards to the Small Grant Support, the ALC program, and how it can be used to provide arts education opportunities to people throughout the state.  My goal is to utilize the webpage to provide helpful tips and insight that you can incorporate into the planning of your programs.

I also plan to include useful advice for those of you who are seeking funding from the Oklahoma Arts Council for your ALC programs.   If you are submitting a grant application, I want to assist in making the process as smooth as possible for you so your project will have a good chance of getting funded.  The subject matter for the articles that I will post will often be predominantly based off of the questions I get from you.

By providing the community-based arts learning programs, you are offering a wonderful service to Oklahomans in your communities.  I hope that I can be a resource for you in your steps to successful programming!

Be well,

Molly O’Connor
