APPLICATION AVAILABLE FOR LEADERSHIP ARTS CLASS III, 2010
Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Arts Council announced today that applications are now available for Leadership Arts Class III, 2010. Staff or board members of arts organizations, city economic and community development staff, school board members, community citizens and business leaders are encouraged to apply. The purpose of Leadership Arts is to develop a statewide network of community arts leaders and advocates.
Leadership Arts is sponsored by the Oklahoma Arts Council and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. The program is a project of the Oklahoma Arts Council in cooperation with Quartz Mountain Resort and the communities of Tahlequah, Ada and Oklahoma City.
Executive Director Suzanne Tate said participants will learn how their communities can include arts programs and cultural assets as a vital component of their economic development strategies. “Leadership Arts class members will learn how arts and cultural development can be harnessed to create economic opportunity, provide a high quality of community life, and ignite the creative potential of Oklahoma’s youth.”
The first four sessions are devoted to panel and individual presentations, group discussions, and tours of community arts spaces. Session Five includes the annual Oklahoma Arts Conference.
The Oklahoma Arts Council places a high priority on geographic diversity during the application process. Submission of an application does not ensure acceptance in the program.
An application form and other information is available on the Oklahoma Arts Council’s website at www.arts.ok.gov through December 15, 2009.
