STATEWIDE CONFERENCE
FEATURES THE ROLE OF THE ARTS IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
November 12-14, 2008

Oklahoma City, OK –In these days of economic uncertainty, many Oklahoma communities are looking to the arts as a major catalyst for community development. This will be the hot topic at the Oklahoma Arts Council’s annual conference in Enid, November 12-14.  This event will showcase the ingenuity of Oklahoma’s arts organizations and how they are impacting community and economic growth.

Conference attendees will learn how Oklahoma communities are attracting and retaining a creative citizenry by developing arts districts and arts learning centers for youth and adults.  They will also learn from business leaders the motivating factors behind corporate sponsorship and giving, and why investing in arts active communities is good business.

Arts leaders will discuss the types of community assets that help support their local artists, and how technology centers can serve as a valuable and affordable resource to artists for  business training.

Registration and other information is available on the Oklahoma Arts Council’s website at http://arts.ok.gov or contact Georgia Williams, Cultural Development Director at
