Oklahoma City, OK – Schools who want to bring the arts into their classrooms have a new funding opportunity from the Oklahoma Arts Council. Arts Education Director Aaron Jones said applications for Small Grant Support for Schools is now available to help bring artists from a variety of disciplines into their schools.
“The Small Grant Support for Schools allows schools to apply for funds directly from the Council and does not require them to work through their district. This grant also requires schools to match only 25% of the total requested amount. This makes a Small Grant Support for Schools very attractive and accessible for teachers and administrators who want to bring a quality arts experience to their students,” said Jones.
Sept. 15th is the first deadline for the Small Grant Support for Schools for funds for the 2007-2008 academic year. The Small Grant Support for Schools provides funds to assist with hands-on instruction and participation in the arts in public schools in Oklahoma.
Jones said individual schools are eligible for up to $1500 once per year. “There is no limit to the number of sites that are eligible to apply within one school district. We have also created a second deadline of March 1 to give schools another opportunity to take advantage of last minute arts opportunities that arise late in the school year,” added Jones.
May 1st is the deadline to apply for funds for the 2008-2009 academic year.
