Photography
is an extremely expressive medium that ultimately captures a moment
in time and eternally preserves a subject without modifying its true
form. 3 Cities 2 Views allows you to travel to three of the world’s
most wondrous cities, London, New Orleans and Santa Fe, while discovering
the mystery of the cityscapes through the lens of two photographers.
Through the old world architecture of New Orleans, to the bustling
streets of London, and the grandiose color spectrum of Santa Fe, Jim
and Jackie Meeks have encapsulated the marvel of three treasured cities.
Jackie Meeks, who was raised in upstate New York as well as Edmond,
Oklahoma, has created one form of art or another throughout her life.
Jackie graduated from Central State University with a Bachelors degree
in Graphic Advertising Design. She focused her artistic talents on
drawing, collage, and jewelry making until 1995 when she purchased
her first professional camera. Since then, Jackie’s camera has
served as the perfect medium to fulfill her desire to share the world
as she envisions it.
A native Oklahoman, Jim Meeks has been highly involved in the art
community throughout his life. Jim received an Associate Art degree
from Oklahoma City Community College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from
the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Master of
Liberal Arts from Oklahoma City University. Since 1989, Jim has taught
art and photography at the college level. He has also worked as preparator
and photographer in several museums and currently is the Chief Preparator
and Photographer for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. His photographs
have appeared in numerous publications and are among public and private
collections throughout the Unites States and Europe.
3 Cities 2 Views is a unique exhibit that allows the audience to see familiar places through the eyes of two different people. We all see the world differently. One may find beauty in the rising sun while another may see sorrow in a blooming rose. Jim and Jackie Meeks invite us to see the world as they do as we accompany them on their journey to three exceptional cities. Through their photos, the Meeks help us create yet another view, our own.
