The Best of On Assignment
December 20, 2004 thru February 18, 2005
The
Tulsa Photography Collective was founded by a group of Tulsa photographers
in 1984. Its mission is to promote and support fine art photography
through exhibits, community service projects, and education.
It maintains Pictures Gallery for fine art photography at OSU -Tulsa, North Hall Conference Center, 700 N. Greenwood in Tulsa.
One of the community projects the Tulsa Photography Collective performed was the “On Assignment” documentary series. Once per year from 1987 until 2000, members of the Collective would spend two days documenting a town in Oklahoma. The resulting “On Assignment” photographs would first be displayed at the Collective’s Pictures Gallery in Tulsa. The exhibit would then be displayed in the town documented.

This exhibit represents “The Best of On Assignment.”
A committee of Collective members went through all the photographs and picked those which had the most merit: either from an artistic standpoint or documentary interest.
Sponsored by the Oklahoma Arts Council. For more information contact Scott Cowan or Karen Sharp at 405.521.2931 or scott@arts.ok.gov.
