October 18 thru December 12, 2004
When
Vicki Ayres-McCune of Goodwell was 7 years old her parents bought her
first 35-mm camera and she’s been taking pictures ever since.
Ayres-McCune is a self-taught photographer who enjoys many other forms of creating art. “My favorite subjects are people, studying their moves and emotions through the camera. Although I do enjoy painting, drawing, pottery, furniture making and crafts, my camera is my real paintbrush. It is through the eye of the camera that I find my inspiration to paint,” she explained.
“My passion for creativity has also brought me to the new age
of art and graphic design. In the past two years, I’ve used darkroom
chemicals and filters and manipulated the images using Adobe PhotoShop.
This allows me to ‘paint’ my photograph as if it were an
artist’s canvas and brings out a whole new level of creativity.”
Ayres-McCune said photography allows her to “almost view a person’s
soul or the Earth’s spirit through the subtle and unobtrusive
eye of the lens....stopping time and motion in its tracks.”
During the late 80’s, Ayres-McCune came to Oklahoma Panhandle
State University, fell in love with the culture, and has lived in the
Oklahoma Panhandle ever since. In 2002, she decided to go back to college
and finish her degree in Marketing with minors in Art and Photography.
She also runs VAMCO Marketing, a small marketing, advertising and art
agency out of her home.
Vicki gives back to her community again and again. She is a member of the Goodwell City Council, a long-time member of the Pioneer Day Rodeo Committee, and also is involved in Cub Scouts and many other community and school activities.
