The Emotion of the Moment
February 19 thru April 13, 2007
Yukon
artist Pat Snyder finds a simple moment in time and creates the emotion
of that every day glimpse of life. In her exhibit The
Emotion of the Moment, Snyder uses vivid color and vibrant brush work to reflect the
experiences of her subjects in order to share her personal connection
to each with those that encounter her work.
Her
challenge is to take a human form and infuse the soul and beauty of
that person. “My passion for painting is a great gift. Recently,
I’ve come to the realization of how quickly life happens. It’s
a joy for me to freeze in time that special moment, to give it life
as I see it, and to create an emotional response in the viewer,” said
Snyder.
Drawing in pencil and ink as a youth, Snyder studied with Faye Taylor, a fashion artist and then with painters Joan Marron LaRue, Jean Richardson and the late Marilyn Bendell. Her works have been displayed in Taos and Santa Fe as well as the Norman Wilks gallery for more than 25 years where she held one person shows each year. She is currently represented by the Howell Gallery in Oklahoma City.
Arts Council Executive Director Betty Price said “Pat Snyder’s
portraits and landscapes capture the personality and vitality of her
subjects with warmth and texture. Her works give us a sense of joy
and allow us to see that moment in time.”
Emotion, passion and time are gifts that need to be used wisely. We
need to take the moments in our life, give them beauty and light. This
makes life a glorious journey,
