31st Annual National Watercolor Oklahoma
December 5, 2005 thru February 5, 2006
The
Oklahoma Watercolor Association was established in 1976 to encourage
the recognition of the State of Oklahoma as a center of artistic endeavor
and to educate its artists in water media. Since 1981, the Association
has sponsored the National Watercolor Oklahoma Exhibit. This annual
event has been held at several locations throughout the metro, including
the Omniplex and the City Arts Center. The 2005 exhibition, held at
our beautiful State Capitol, marks the 31st year of the show.
The
entries may include any water media including acrylics and collage.
Out of hundreds of entries submitted to the National Watercolor Oklahoma
exhibit, 72 works of art were chosen for this prestigious nationally
recognized event. Artists from all regions of the United States have
been selected to exhibit, among them, several talented Oklahoma artists.
Every
year, a well-respected water media instructor juries the show. Louise
Cadillac will have the notable task of judging the spectacular work
exhibited. Cadillac earned a Master of Arts degree in Art Education
and has been awarded the Vincent Van Gogh Plaque for Outstanding Leadership
in the Arts. Cadillac writes instructional articles relating to contextual
aspects of painting. Within the articles, Cadillac freely shares her
own advanced creative techniques. In reference to the show, Cadillac
states, “I was delighted to find a good percentage of paintings
displaying a personal statement, such as unexpected views of the familiar
or provocative and/or stimulating arrangement of elements, or disturbingly
realistic images as well as exquisite subtleties any of which would
engage the viewer’s interaction.”
