XIX Members and Traveling Exhibit
May 24 thru July 23, 2004
This
year’s Oklahoma Watercolor Association Members and Traveling
Watercolor Oklahoma 2004-2005 is host to works by 27 Oklahoma Artists.
The OWA Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday,
May 28, 2004. The purpose of the Oklahoma Watercolor Association is
to encourage the recognition of the State of Oklahoma as a center of
artistic endeavor and to educate its artists in water media. This is
facilitated through programs, seminars, demonstrations, workshops,
critiques, exhibitions, sketching opportunities and other work pertaining
to water media.
The 2004 Oklahoma Watercolor Association Members and Traveling exhibit
was jurored by Hugh Greer. Greer earned a degree in industrial design
from the University of Kansas and spent 40 years as an architectural
delineator. His paintings have won numerous awards, including Best
of Show in the Kansas Seven State WaterColor Exhibition 2000 and a
top 100 honor in Arts for the Parks in 200l. He has authored two books,
Hugh Greer, Missouri to New Mexico and Acrylic Landscape Painting Techniques.
About his work Hugh has stated, “I like to use acrylics, which can be opaque or transparent, applied in layers of thin washes that allow each preceding color to influence the layers on top of them. These paints are fast drying and considered to be a hard-edged medium. So I use a variety of techniques including finger-painting, working wet on wet and dry brushing to obtain soft edges.”
Hugh Greer will also be the instructor for the Oklahoma Watercolor
Association’s 2004 Workshop during the week of May 24 – 27,
2004 at City Arts Center. Greer’s watercolor demonstration will
be highlighted on Monday, May 24, 2004 at 7:00pm in conjunction with
the OWA Monthly Meeting. The public is also invited.
