Narrative
Duo Clarion, formed in 1999 at the Yale School of Music, has toured extensively throughout Europe, Taiwan and the United States. Recent performances throughout the United States have taken them to locations including Boston, Providence, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Iowa, New Haven, Maine, Texas, and their home state of Oklahoma. This past seasonwas filled with performances at the OK MOZART International Festival and the Thy Chamber Music Festival of Denmark, with performances in eight different locations throughout Denmark. To date, Duo Clarion has released two CD recordings. They commissioned Edward Knight to compose Romance for Clarinet and Piano (2003), and their performance of the work was recorded and released by Albany Records in 2005. The work is a theatrical three-movement sonata Knight describes as “an intimate piece, one that only a duo with exceptional teamwork can pull off.” In 2006, Wei Studio released another CD of solo and duo works performed by Duo Clarion. They have been featured in concert performances at national and international conferences such as the Society of Composers (2004), 32nd Annual Clarinet Symposium at the University of Oklahoma, and the International Clarinet Association’s 2007 Conference in Vancouver. In addition, Duo Clarion enjoys collaborations with other professional ensembles such as the Providence String Quartet and Van Dingstee Quartet from the Netherlands. They also serve as Artistic Directors for the Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble and its series of six programs in Oklahoma City. Both members of Duo Clarion also maintain independent performing and teaching activities.
