Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is in town and the needs some assistance from artists. They are looking for artists working in wood, metal, fabric, as well as mural painters and landscape artists. They are also looking for landscapers, seamstresses, volunteers, and people to cheer them along. $2000 non-purchase award for the winning Texas Oklahoma Art Prize selection by the juror.
$1000 non-purchase award each for one Texas and one Oklahoma representative selected by the juror.
All entries must be original works of art by artists 18 years or older residing in either Oklahoma or Texas and completed within the last two years.

The museum reserves the right to exclude any entry considered too fragile or unmanageable to safely handle, or if the facility is not able to provide the technology or requirements to properly exhibit the work of art.

Exhibition and Reproduction Agreement
Permission to reproduce works of art for publicity is considered granted when entries are submitted to the museum. 
Submission of entries constitutes agreement to these conditions as well as the following Shipment, Return and Liability and the Submission, Fee and Due Date requirements.  
Final decision for inclusion in Texas Oklahoma Art Prize 2010 at Wichita Falls Museum of art will be made by the juror and museum director.

Shipment, Return and Liability
Ship accepted works art to Wichita Falls Museum of Art at Two Eureka Circle, Wichita Falls, TX 76308, 940-397-8900.
All works of art must be shipped in reusable containers and delivered by hand or commercial carrier to the museum during hours of operation, 9:30 – 5:00 Tues. – Fri., or 10:30 – 5:00 Sat.
Works of art can be picked up between June 1 through June 12, 2010 during normal hours of operation.
If a commercial carrier is being used to return works of art, please make shipping arrangements directly with the carrier, not through the museum.
The museum will insure works of art while in the facility only and will not be responsible for damage to, loss or deterioration of any work of art while in transit.

Submission, Fee and Due Date
All entries must be submitted in JPEG format, approximately1MB preferred.

Seattle seeks artists for two park projects

Seattle's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), seeks two artists for public art projects at two new parks: West Seattle Reservoir at Westcrest Park and Maple Leaf Reservoir Park. The artists will be selected from a single pool of applicants, and each will work on one of the park projects.

The artists will collaborate with design consultants and city staff to create engaging areas or installations that are integrated into the parks' design, enhance the experience of visiting the parks, promote discovery and/or define a space or activity within the parks.

The projects are funded with SPU and 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy 1% for Art funds.

Seattle seeks artist for new First Hill Streetcar artwork
Deadline: 11 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 (Pacific Time)
Seattle's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs seeks an artist to develop site-integrated
artwork for the First Hill Streetcar line, which will connect the Chinatown/International District transit station to the future Capitol Hill light rail station via First Hill. The new line is part of the Seattle Streetcar Network.

The selection artist will work the the Seattle Deparment of Transportation and consultants from the early stages of design through construction. Artwork and design enhancements will be incorporated during construction of the streetcar line. Artists with experience in both art and design would be well-suited for this project.

Construction of the two-mile line is scheduled to begin in 2011 and end in 2013.

Eligibility: Open to professional artists residing in the United States.

Budget: $600,000 all-inclusive

Quilt Contest
22" patriotic quilt contest for corporate prizes, touring and auction with all profits going for quilts for wounded soldiers. Free to enter. Deadline March 31. See http://heavenlypatchwork.com/patriotic_quilt_exhibits_and_programs.htm for more information.

The theme is Patriotic, Stars and Stripes, Support our Troops or Biblically Inspired.  Quilts will tour 18 months. Judged for prizes and auctioned in October or November 2011. 100% auction and show profits go to non-profits who make quilts for wounded soldiers. Finished quilt size is 22” x 22” with a 4” sleeve or 4” loops sewn along the upper back for displaying on rod, plus four tabs along the upper edge for pinning onto draped racks to protect quilt.

American Royal Student Art Competition and Scholarship Auction
Deadline: April 1, 2010

The American Royal Student Art Competition and Scholarship Auction were created to recognize and reward student artists who have created art that depicts the culture, spirit and history of the American Royal Livestock, Horse Show and Rodeo and the Agra Foundation of the tall grass plains region: Farm and Ranch Life (past or present); Cowboy; Rodeo; Country or Western Scene; Equestrian Events and Lifestyle;  Prairie or Tall Grass Landscapes; Livestock Animals; or Wildlife native to the continental USA shown in a western or agricultural setting.
The student art auction will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010, in the Wagstaff Arena at the American Royal Complex. This is a ticketed event for potential buyers. Refreshments will be served to patrons and the art pieces displayed for viewing from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The auction will follow.
The top 25 pieces will be auctioned to the highest bidder, with each student artist receiving a cash scholarship of 70 percent of the sale value. The remaining 30 percent will be retained by the American Royal Education and Scholarship Fund.
To be eligible to enter the contest, each student must meet all of the following requirements:
Be a high school student in 2009-2010 academic years.
Be enrolled in an accredited high school (public, private or home school)
Students are limited to five entries of which only one may be selected to be placed in the live auction.
Entry Requirements: Entry will be with digital jpeg files on disc. A completed signed release form, entry form, biography and non refundable entry fee of $10 per entry up to five (check, money order, or credit card) payable to The American Royal is required. Cotton County Art Council in Walters, OK needs artists and crafters for its 2010 Art Fest which is being held Saturday, April 24th from 9am to 4pm at the Walters Expo Center. Heritage Harbor Days in Foley, Alabama
Ten years ago Foley, Alabama and Guymon, Oklahoma did a festival exchange that showcased the best of their state’s culture.  The Oklahoma festival in Foley (just a few miles north of Gulf Shores) had over 30,000 visitors. Because this is the 10th year, the ten states that Foley has partnered with are once again invited to be a part of Heritage Harbor Days. They are especially excited about having Oklahoma again since we were the first partners. Do you consider yourself to be an Oklahoma artist that represents our state and our people well? Are you interested in attending the two day November festival? There is no booth fee, only a percentage of sales is taken by the festival committee. Broken Bow music theater art festival needs artists
A music theater art festival is being planned for May 22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the amphitheater at Beavers Bend State Park outside of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  Art vendors are needed. Booths are $20 a space. We also need any kind of theater type actors, or even jugglers etc. The actors will not be able to be paid but they can get exposure and be listed on our posters and advertising and they can have a free lunch.

The United States Mint - Artistic Infusion Program
Call for Artists

The United States Mint is seeking up to 6 Associate Designers to join the current designers under contract with the program. This year, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis with 3 cutoff dates throughout the year for evaluation and review. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The United States Mint encourages applications from artists representing diverse backgrounds and a variety of interests reflecting those of the American people. Artists selected to participate in the program will be paid established fees for their work.

The application deadlines are as follows:

Application Period Two: March 8, 2010
Application Period Three: July 6, 2010

Eligibility
The United States Mint will select up to 6 professional artists from the various disciplines of visual arts. To qualify in the associate designer category, applicants must be an established professional visual artist and meet the following criteria:

  1. U.S. citizenship
  2. Have specialized training in his or her art form
  3. Have derived a portion of his or her individual income from his or her art for a minimum of 5 years by the time of application
  4. Have a history of public presentation of his or her art in a professional context, such as a gallery show, or work that has appeared as part of a curated exhibit, permanent collection of a museum, or in a professional journal.

Applicants must also be able to accept the terms and conditions for participation in the AIP as described in the application. Click here to apply now.
Note: At this time, the AIP is limited to coin and medal design (i.e., drawings) and does not encompass the execution (sculpting and engraving) of designs. United States Mint sculptor-engravers model designs created by AIP artists and also submit their own designs for consideration for coin and medal programs.


Oklahoma Folklife Center Search
The Oklahoma Folklife Center and Oklahoma History Center want to know more Oklahoma folklife demonstrator and performers by cultural categories such as Latino, Native American, Celtic, western heritage, Afro Centric, European, Middle Eastern, Indian SubContinent, frontier and pioneer traditions and more; and by storytelling and other oral traditions.

The would also like to learn more of children’s games from traditions and Oklahoma folklife events.

In addition they are looking for Oklahoma fine crafts such as lutherie (musical instrument making), tinsmithing, blacksmithing, some jewelry making, wood workers of special merit, pottery, etc.

Winery Searching for Artists to Feature
Stone Bluff Cellars in Haskell (near Tulsa) is looking for artists who utilize various mediums (paint, sculpture, etc.) and artisans that produce hand-made, one of a kind products. We have a preferred customer list of more than 3,000 people that will receive notification about the artist's appearance at the winery through our e-Newsletter and our website. And, if the artist is willing to provide a photograph of their work and a brief bio about themselves, we'll also send out press releases.

We want the artists to feel free to bring a work in progress and take the opportunity to show people what they do and how they do it. Of course, the artists are invited to sell, as well as display and demonstrate.

We're not interested in edibles, candles, soaps, or body care products at this time.

Art in Embassies Program
Deadline: Ongoing
The ART in Embassies Program promotes the cultural identity of America’s art and artists by borrowing original works of art by U.S. citizens for display in U.S. embassy residences worldwide. Each ART exhibition is developed collaboratively between a United States ambassador and one of our curators. We select both image-based and abstract work in all media.

Information: The length of a loan is approximately two and one-half to three years, which coincides with the average length of an ambassador’s tenure. ART in Embassies hires professional fine art handlers to assemble, pack, crate and safely ship works of art to and from each embassy. ART insures each work of art during its transit to and from the embassy and while it is on exhibit at the residence.

Award: Lenders are not compensated financially. Their participation is documented in ART exhibition publications and/or on the ART web site. A wall label accompanies each work of art and identifies both the artist and lender.

Submit: Go to aiep.state.gov/index.cfm first. To submit images to ART staff for consideration in upcoming exhibitions please submit either your URL or digital images (no more than 10 images, with the total size of the email not exceeding 5 MB) to: artinembassies@state.gov.

Do not send multiple emails (include all attachments in one email). Include object information, and an artist’s statement, resume or biography. Please do not expect an immediate response. ART in Embassies archives submissions for future consideration.
